What is the Columbine Endowment for the Arts?

CEA is a Colorado, Section 501, (C)3, non-profit, tax-exempt arts organization founded in 2017.   See Mission statement.

How is CEA organized?

CEA is a small non-profit which has no employees or stand-alone headquarters.    Its founding Board of Directors is comprised of David Henry, President; Roy Palmer, Vice President and Treasurer; Brad Buchanan, Vice President and Secretary.   None of the officers or directors are compensated for their time or services.

Where may I find the CEA collection displayed?

CEA is a community organization in Columbine Valley.  Much of its collection is currently on display, through a cooperative agreement, at Columbine Country Club.  The works displayed at Columbine Country Club area available for public viewing.   Tours must be scheduled in advance.   Please contact Brad Buchanan at BBuchanan@ceart.org.

What is CEA’s Curatorial theme?

Our collection is primarily composed of “all-original museum quality” works of Art from recognized Colorado Artists both emerging and established; whose works can be found in Art Museums and Galleries nationwide. From classic to contemporary, we want to celebrate Colorado Artists’ passion and individual contribution to America’s Creative Palette. Since much of Colorado’s history is western in nature, we also want to respect it’s heritage and in doing so - will strive to include significant historic western works that celebrate our past.

CEA = Celebrating the passion of Colorado Art.

Does CEA accept donations?

Yup.  Cash/Check.  (Have you ever met a non-profit that didn’t?)   However, CEA receives no government assistance or at this point grants from other associations or non-profits.   Our funding comes from individual donors.   CEA anticipates taking credit card donations in the near future, but at his point if you wish to contribute please send a check  to Columbine Country Club, C/O Columbine Endowment for the Arts, 17 Fairway Lane, Columbine Valley, CO  80123.

Are contributions to CEA tax deductible?

Yes, to the extent that all deductions to an IRS certified tax-exempt, 501, (C) 3 organization are deductible.    For specific questions and details of whether a contribution is tax deductible, please consult your tax advisor.

Does CEA accept donated art?

Yes, but only a limited, case-by-case basis.   Please contact David Henry at DHenry@ceart.org.

What tax deduction do I receive for donated art that is accepted by CEA?

You are able to deduct the fair market value of the art you donate to CEA.   However, CEA does not establish what that value is.   CEA will send the donor an acknowledgement of the gift letter.   It is up to the donor to obtain an independent appraisal and to understand federal and state tax laws regarding a non-cash donation to a Section 501, C-3 organization.    CEA has a list of art appraisers in Colorado and will work with donors in advance of their donation, but makes no representation about how much the donation of art is tax deductible.
